For incorporated business owners in Canada

Your corporation is leaking tax in 3 places.

A free 2-minute check for owners doing $50K+ a year through their corporation. Where the leaks are, how to plug them legally, and how to turn what you keep into long-term wealth. This year, not at retirement.

The 3 leaksPay · Park · Exit
  1. 01
    Pay

How you pay yourself. Personal tax in Ontario tops out at 53.53%,2 and most owners decide salary and dividends at year-end, when it is already too late.

  2. 02
    Park

Cash sitting in the corporation. Investment income inside a private corporation is taxed at about 50%,1 and past $50,000 a year of it your small business deduction starts shrinking.3

  3. 03
    Exit

Getting it out and passing it on. Without a plan, the same corporate dollar can be taxed twice: once on the way out, again at your estate.

Sound familiar?

What incorporated owners tell us every week.

I only find out what I owe when my accountant files.

What's happening: that's reporting, not planning. By then, the year's decisions are already locked in.

There's cash sitting in my corporation and no plan for it.

What's happening: idle cash barely grows, and the investment income it earns inside the corporation is taxed at about 50%.1

Every time I take money out, I get hammered.

What's happening: salary, bonus and dividends are each taxed differently. The mix matters more than the amount.

Salary or dividends? I'm never sure what's best.

What's happening: the right answer shifts every year with your income, your family, your RRSP room and what's in the corporation.

My advisor pitches products. Nobody looks at the whole picture.

What's happening: your tax plan and your wealth plan should be one plan, not two separate sales calls.

If something happened to me, my family would inherit a tax mess.

What's happening: without planning, corporate wealth can be taxed twice on its way to your family.

The real problem

You don't have an income problem. You have a tax‑flow problem.

Every dollar your corporation earns goes one of three ways. Each way has its own leak, and most owners only look at one of them, once a year.

Every $1 your corporation earns

The Pay Leak

How you pay yourself

Looks like
Salary or dividends decided at year-end. No plan for your spouse's income, RRSP room or CPP.
Costs you
Personal tax in Ontario tops out at 53.53%.2 Take out the wrong dollars and you pay it on money you didn't need yet.
We look at
Your salary, bonus and dividend mix, the timing, and which dollars should stay in the corporation.
02

The Parking Leak

Cash sitting in the corporation

Looks like
Retained earnings in a bank account, GIC or corporate portfolio, with no job to do.
Costs you
Investment income inside a private corporation is taxed at about 50%.1 Past $50,000 a year of passive income, your small business deduction starts shrinking. At $150,000, the federal portion is gone.3
We look at
Separating operating cash from true surplus, then repositioning surplus to grow tax-sheltered, including corporately owned permanent life insurance where it fits.
03

The Exit Leak

Getting it out and passing it on

Looks like
No plan for how money leaves the corporation, in retirement or when you pass away.
Costs you
Taken out later as dividends, it's taxed again at personal rates. At death, without planning, the same corporate dollar can be taxed twice.
We look at
Future access to capital, estate liquidity, and the Capital Dividend Account, which can pay eligible insurance proceeds out to your estate and family tax-free.4

Is this for you?

Built for some owners. Not everyone.

This is for you if

  • Your business is incorporated in Ontario, Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba or BC
  • Your corporation does $50K+ a year in revenue
  • Cash is building up in the company, or soon will be
  • You want your tax plan and your wealth plan working together
  • You're tired of hearing “we'll look at it at year-end”

This isn't for you if

  • You're not incorporated yet (we can help you set that up first)
  • You want aggressive loopholes. Everything we do sits within CRA rules
  • You need every dollar in the business for the next 24 months
  • You'd rather not look at your numbers

The Tax Leak Scorecard: a one-page summary rating the Pay, Park and Exit leaks, the estimated yearly cost of each, and the recommended next step.
What you leave with

The Tax Leak Scorecard.

One page, filled in with you on the call. Not a brochure, and not a quote.

  • Each leak rated red, amber or green for your corporation.
  • A rough yearly number beside each one, so you can see the size of it.
  • One next step per leak, in plain language.
  • What to bring if you want us to go deeper.

Yours to keep, whether we work together or not. Figures on it are estimates for discussion, not advice, and any strategy needs a full review of your situation.

My commitment
One call. Real value. You'll leave with your Tax Leak Scorecard and at least one thing you can act on, whether we work together or not. If there's no clear opportunity, I'll tell you straight.

Why now

Every year-end without a plan is tax you don't get back. The best time to fix the leaks was before last year-end. The second best is before this one.

Mahad takes a limited number of Wealth Strategy Sessions each month.

Questions

What owners ask before booking.

Is this legal?
Yes. Everything we recommend sits within the Income Tax Act and CRA rules. No loopholes, no offshore schemes. Every strategy is modelled on your numbers and reviewed before anything is put in place.
Do I have to switch accountants?
No. We can work alongside your current accountant. Some clients later move their books to Tax Partners because one team sees everything, but that's your call.
What does it cost?
The review is free. If there's a fit, you get a clear proposal before anything happens.
Is this just an insurance pitch?
No. Sometimes the best move is a better pay mix, a holding company, paying down debt, or keeping cash liquid. Insurance is one tool, and we only recommend it when your numbers and goals justify it.
Do I need $150K in my corporation?
No. Corporations doing $50K+ in revenue qualify for a Corporate Tax Review. Owners with $150K+ sitting in the corporation qualify for a Wealth Strategy Session with Mahad.
What should I bring?
Three rough numbers: your corporation's yearly revenue, how much cash or investments sit in it, and how you paid yourself last year. Rough is fine.
Where do you work?
With owners in Ontario, Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba and British Columbia, by video call, or in person at our Newmarket and Oshawa offices.

¹ Ontario 2026 combined corporate tax rate on investment income (other than capital gains) earned by a Canadian-controlled private corporation: 50.17%. Part of this tax is refundable when the corporation pays taxable dividends. Rates vary by province.

² Ontario 2026 top combined federal and provincial marginal rate on ordinary income, for taxable income above $258,482.

³ The federal small business deduction is reduced when a corporation and its associated corporations earn between $50,000 and $150,000 of adjusted aggregate investment income, and eliminated above $150,000. Provincial treatment varies; Ontario does not apply this reduction to its provincial rate.

⁴ Subject to the corporation's capital dividend account balance and a valid election (CRA Form T2054). Applies to eligible amounts paid to Canadian-resident shareholders.
